Write of the beauty of a rose.

Roses are all very lovely, but the red rose is the most alluring, the femme fatale among the pretties that could snap your neck with a passionate kiss. The red rose is a seductress, tempting even the most logical to abandon care and jump through through flame to be cradled by satisfaction. Oh, red rose, as soft as a virgin's thigh, scraping like a cloud against a flushed cheek as the chin inclines toward first kiss. Yes! Red rose that wraps the moment in silk, tilts the universe a few degrees, and unleashes the darkest desire, the wanton need to know better and say yes regardless. The red rose stands out among the crowd of fragrant beauties, flashing crimson intention and more than willing to be our partner in crime.

What is a rose but a flower?
What is a flower but a plant?
Why would this plant in particular
mean so many things to a man?

Purple is enchantment,
like love at first sight,
but orange proves desire
and lust are the plight.

Yellow can be given
as being just a friend
and pink can mean
a little bit more in the end.

Red is for romance
that's beautiful and true
and white is important
because that means you're saying "I do".

To me it's just a plant
that's going to whither in a week
and something that lasts longer
is really what I seek.

So stop your silly flowery gifts.
They are an expensive endeavor.
Save your money and buy me a ring
because a diamond lasts forever.

...that was terrible lol
oh well, Happy New Year!!!

No matter what hue
The love shines through.

The rose is so delicate and soft. Not lasting too long at all. Its perfume fills a room and lightens up any woman's face. Its many colors are a sight to see. They can be sent for any occassion. Enjoy its beauty and smell the rose every day, for soon it will fade away.

A Rose is the universal symbol of love. Sometimes it is given in love...sometimes it is given in hopes of love responding. Like love, it is beautiful but must be handled with care or you might prick your soul. Even pressed between the pages of an old book...when discovered again...love is renewed. Like love, it begins with a beautiful bud then grows into a multi layered entity and must be watered or it will wither and die. The colors attract and the fragrance lingers.

A rose in peril fades in peace,
A love in tragedy lingers least--
Far more than these is trust.

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose,
By any other name, would smell as sweet.*
Thanks but it’s not the name that’s on the nose,
It’s all the rosy problems that I meet.

There are aphids, thrip, moths and red spider,
Rust and black spot, catapillars hairy,
And the thorny branches can provide a
Most nasty wound to the unwary.

You often need to prune and deadhead them
To shape and otherwise try to train them;
And then worry if you’ve overfed them.
It really is a pain to maintain them.

Frankly, in the garden I am too lazy:
Ditch the roses, plant a daisy.

* Shakespeare, Romeo & Juliet, (II, ii, 1-2)
