For Annie, who lives across the Water

Through the wires
And across the distance
Your love rings out to me.

The water between our countries
And the space we cannot fill
Are no barriers to the journeys
I make across the landscapes
We have created,
Forged in the certainty
That one day our lips will touch.

It is night time and the day is spent.
I lift the receiver to my ear and listen
Intently, as the soothing honey of your mellow
Voice drips its tenderness into my being.

We have waited too long for the intimate
Joining of souls split apart,
Reconnected and renewing that which was lost.
To touch your slender lips against mine,
To feel warmth of breath against my cheek,
Recognising the familiar and the unexpected,
In a second filled with perfection,
Filled with union,
To be in the moment, sensing such distillation
Of anticipated bliss…

The touch of your lips will linger
Long after the kiss is done.

He sees her
Standing there,
Waiting for him.

He watches her
Adjusting her skirt,
Fixing her hair.

He walks to her
Smiling at him,
Saying hello.

He leans in to her
Embracing her lightly,
Kissing her slightly.

They walk toward the car,
Carrying their bags,
Holding hands.

He hesitates,
Dropping his bag,
Stopping before the door.

He grabs her,
Taking her passionately,
Kissing her deeply.

She melts into him,
Giving him her all,
Kissing her Love.

Hi Faith,

I adore the last line/imagery of your poem, 'Kissing her love.' Brilliant!

All the best,

Sacha

Anticipation of the breath of him,
closer to close we move together.

Brushing, touching
my cheeks, my eyes, my mouth.

Do we know that everything
is right here, right now?
For only this moment matters.

Anticipation of the breath of him,
brings me here to press my breast
against his beating wildly heart.

I will never be the same.

This has got to be fate. A very important kiss will occur today- wish me luck!

Luck to you I.N.Kwell! I hope that everyone gets to share a kiss with someone today, be it a lover, a child, a friend, even a pet. *MWAH* Kisses!

Thank you, Sacha!

Lovely poem Sasha!

I especially love your word choice in "...as the soothing honey of your mellow Voice drips..."

And, considering the photo this poem was posted with, I love this tongue-in-cheek comment: Forged in the certainty That one day our lips will touch.

Haha...because they're statues! How clever! Nice work.

A Kiss

A kiss today is all I need
A kiss for me to be

A kiss so soft and tender here
On my lips to feel

To feel alive and carefree
Yes, that is the kiss for me

Ice engulfs their bodies
Each unable to perform
They rest before one another
And the anticipation releases their warmth

He watches her stand just before him
Holding in every bit of desire
Admiring her physic as the light washes over her
And the anticipation releases his warmth

She stands over him feeling his energy
Needing only to breath one more breathe
Glancing down at his strength and might
And the anticipation releases her warmth

The ice engulfs them no longer
For a touch of the lip they embrace
Feeling connected together forever
And their love releases their warmth

Shall I lay this kiss upon you
at risk of where it leads?
Love can take so many shapes
depending on our needs

This kiss was deemed forbidden
though there's longing in your eyes
I feel that I should give my life, for I have what you would prize

But at what cost to me and my own?
I have a stable relationship
Yet your body, your heart, and our past
keep on asking me.. What if...?

Hi Christa,

Thanks for the kind words.

As it happens I hadn't spotted the word play to which you refer, although I agree that the relationship between words and image do make it ironic.

In fact, I was about to drive home to France the next day and I was hoping I would get to kiss Annie for the first time. And I did. And it was magical.

With kind regards,

Sacha

Her Kiss

Driving into Travis County, on Interstate 95
It was cold and wet and misty; but it felt great to be alive.
I’d been to Bastrop to see my woman and a kiss was all I got,
And she may not realize it but that kiss sure meant a lot.
Because her kiss is sweeter than carmel popcorn
And stronger than any dragon that has walked the earth
I wouldn’t trade it for chocolates or venison
Anyone who’s had one knows what they’re worth.
But to me that kiss is priceless
And it made my whole world right
Because it reminds me why I stay my course,
Go to work and fight the fight.
Because under overwhelming odds
And obstacles by the score
She puts her kids, family and loved ones first
Even when it brings struggles all the more
By providing me with that example
In an always cheerful and gracious way
She gently gives me my reminder
To call and tell my kids, “I love you”, each day.
