Tell me what you see
Little one, little one
In your dreams you're free
Little one, little one
I'll try to hold you gently
And show the world as kind
So you'll grow compassionate
With open, thoughtful mind
You will soon be waking
I'll hear your soft request
May your eyes and gentle cries
Call forth my very best
A Fart in the Cosmic Wind

Sweet baby
Asleep
Dreaming:
Mama's milk,
Morning rainbows,
Joys of life to come.

Dan
stay as you are
that's all i ask,
a simple request, i think.
i fear growing up
more than you ever will,
i dread the day i won't
feel your tears on my shoulder,
or have you splashing the water
when i'm giving you a bath.
it's selfish, i know, to want
to have you all to myself,
never share you with the world,
but i'm only a mother
who loves her child,
and fears that maybe the world
will never appreciate you
like i do.
or maybe i'm just afraid
that when the world judges you
they'll really be judging me,
how i raised you because
the world thinks you are just
a receptacle for my parenting,
just as i'm a receptacle
for my mother's parenting.
the mistakes i make as a parent
will not only affect me,
but you as well.
baby, i hope i don't screw you up.
if i do, please forgive me,
for i love you
and i did my very best.
Oh thank you all! I am loving that my photo is here to prompt such beautiful writing! What great writers you are! -and thank you, Dan.
He's sleeping when I get home
hours too late to tuck him in
Spiderman pajamas and tousled hair
little hands clutching his favorite bear
and I hate that I'm late
hate that he waited up for me
Green Eggs and Ham laying at his side
My promises once again turning to lies
Please don't be angry, Little Man.
Momma's doing the best she can
but days are shorter once you're grown
and the hours longer when you're on your own
Peace swaddle you
little one dreaming.
Life lead you
little one hoping.
Love caress you
little one needing.
Happiness find you
little one embracing.
septembermom - that is a heart rendering post. ;) Nice job!
eyelids
feathers, fluttering
ruffled rosy
lips
rumpled-plump dimpled
chin
Soft sounds of silence
Moving air before the face
Chest rising softly, slowly
Eyes twitch gently
Watching intently the magic of dreams
Lips puckered slightly
Soft, damp, and still
An innocence held in moments
An angel sleeping in the clouds
A baby, precious and perfect
Steal a moment to hold forever
