Offer a story set at a fair's fun zone.

He lost track of how many months since his layoff. His disbelief in his situation rested on his shoulders with every breath. Today, he chose to lock his woe in a closet and let his children soar through a day of smiles at the fair. They didn't worry for this one day of food, fun and games. A family needs to laugh even when hope seems to fade with each disappointment. This father reached into his pocket time and time again and said, "Get another candy apple. We will have a good day today."

Ferris Wheel
Up in the sky so high
Down around to the ground
Spinning into sky,
Balanced on the edge of falling,
Safe in a seat,
Around and around.

Cotton candy covers her face.
Her tongue flicks out, serpent-like to erase it.
Laughter fills her soul.
Excitement wells up.
The queue for the ride snakes away.
"Will we be there soon?"
The exhileration of the roller coaster,
the soundless scream.
Trmebling knees when she was released fro the seat.
Eyes as large as mill-ponds:
"can we do it again? please?"
"wouldn't you rather have a toffee apple?"
"no, thank you, I'd lilke to ride again"
I guess the outing's a success.
