Lay back in the grass, relax, take a deep breath
and write as you are inspired.

here. sun.
there. water.
kids run around me,
ignoring my sudden urge
to feel the grass
tickle my skin.
I would have stayed
all day.
I would have watched
sun fall off
island's edge.
I would have seen
the Milky Way fade
into existence,
guessed which constellations
actually appear in autumn,
and which planets twinkle
and which stars shine.
I'm no astronomer.
But Joe jumped on my chest
with an innocent laugh,
and pulled me off my ground bed.
We played on the roof,
and looked for salamanders instead.

Lying on my back
poplars
startling in their seeming nearness
to the sky
Oh Lazy Day
I want to be
A brilliant bird
Up in a tree
Or maybe just
A piece of grass
Joyful as the seasons pass
Better yet
A Cloud in time
Drifting thoughts
Out from my mind
Oh Lazy Day
As perfect be
To rest with you
Beneath this tree
Blue sky above,
Prickly grass below.
Falling into the blue,
Surrounded by puffy white clouds.
Falling and drifting,
Drifting and falling
Mama! Look!
Thud.
But I still remember drifting among the clouds.
I lay in the green
Surrounded by blue
My arms curled behind
my head
White puffy cotton
Floats above me
And it seems the world moves
instead
The soft blades of grass
Gently tickle my skin
Like a sweet
caress
I am taken away
As I lay so still
Being freed from everyday
stress
here. sun.
there. water.

Well, now I see what Mum meant when she said my feet were growing too fast - they're bigger than those buildings over there. Wow!
