Matha and William's story is a true romance.
Do tell me the story of how they met. I love a romance.
(Martha & William have their own blog as well - marthaandwilliam.blogspot.com )

In the beginning, there was light. The light shone through the entire store and all of the workers prepared for the sale to come.
As in all of the fabric stores, each roll of fabric was perfectly displayed in a long roll evenly along the isles. One little pink roll of furry fabric desiring to be noticed was suddenly grabbed up and thrown into the shopping cart, along with another roll….of blue fabric, with the same fluffiness. As the two rolls collided, they each felt a spark of electricity surge through them. It was a feeling they’d never felt before.
The woman brought the fabric to the cutter and asked for a yard from each roll. What would become of them?
Feeling became them as the little rolls of fabric were placed on the counter. Each unrolled, flip-flop – flip-flop and then it stopped. They could feel metal in the touch of their fur, slicing and tearing a piece of self from them. For what reason, they wondered?
Individuals, they became. The woman packed all of the fixings in her shopping bag and headed for home. Upon arriving at home, she excitedly pulled everything from the bag and began fiddling. The two fabrics were poked, sliced (again), picked and stomped; they were stuffed and positioned. Then suddenly, each little fluff began to sense. Sensing became of them…more feeling. The woman placed a tiny little heart within each bunch of fluff and she continued to pick at them.
It was finished, so they thought. The two fluff’s rested in their new feelings, they’re new senses; still wondering about the electrical pull that became of them. The pull was still there.
Much time went by and the two fluff’s just waited, wondering and hoping that they would find meaning. One day, the woman came back. She picked up each of the fluffs and began poking at them again. Picking and poking until a new sense came to each of the little fluffs. The sense of sight became of them.
The two little fluffs had been unaware of the others existence until this moment. They didn’t understand all that had happened but they new that it was all done for a purpose. As their eye’s met; it became perfectly clear that they were made for each other.

Martha had seen them all and wasn’t impressed with what she was finding at the zoo until HE came into her life. William was in an exchange program from London. He was suave dark and handsome. He really knew how to swing his loooong …. Trunk. Tsk tsk for thinking something else! Martha was tickled pink when he strutted into her life.
On his first night at the San Diego Zoo, William had a late night out with the boys and after knocking back more than a few he thought she was just another hallucination. Just another pink elephant manufactured in his befuddled brain. “Egad I NEED to stop drinking with the boys“ William exclaimed out loud.
“Yes, you should!” she replied “You look utterly disgraceful!”. William paused, none of his past hallucinations ever responded back to him! He was immediately smitten by this pink beauty standing before him and vowed never to look or act disgraceful again as he wanted to make the best impression he could as she was most certainly a one of kind, the one he had dreams of on many occasions.
Shortly after that first night you would find Martha and William with trunks intertwined oblivious that they were “stealing” the attention away from the other elephants as the crowds were all watching Martha & William.

~ wow, I could write and write about how they discovered what they were, how the woman felt about the process, what became of them afterward….but….that’s for your imagination….
Thanks, Laura Jayne! I love stuffed animals and my inner child still needed this :o). Love the idea…
It was plush at first sight.
Martha was languishing behind the throw pillows, and William next to the teddy bear in the bedroom. William wasn't happy with the teddy bear; they'd been arguing for months.
Martha and William met when Casey, the little human girl thing, grabbed him and played with him on the couch. When she went to Christmas dinner, William, looking, saw Martha hiding back there. And the rest is history.
Plush at first sight 8-) Lovely!
My name is William. I love my companion Bobby but he is only 6 and doesn't really know what an elephant of my stature needs in a relationship. He always hugs me before he goes to sleep at night and always takes me on the car rides into the country when his dad goes out of town. A wonderful thing happened last week. Bobby's dad married his friend Rene and she moved in with Bobby and his dad and me this week. Rene is a very kind lady. She saw that I was all alone....well at least without any animal friends and I think she felt sorry for me even though Bobby has always been a great human friend. She came home tonight with the most beautiful pink elephant and put her right next to me on the bed. I am in heaven! Her name is Martha. We have already made a pact to be the best of friends and be forever grateful Bobby's new mom, Rene. Now when we go on the car rides, Bobby's dad will have someone, Bobby will have someone new and I will have Martha as my lifelong companion. We are alike in so many ways, almost a mirror image of each other. Now when Bobby grows up and leaves me in the toy box, I will not be alone.
Thank you Rene.
Heather, I LOVE IT!! I'm a seamstress so I know that excitement of bringing home some new fabric! The idea of them literally being "made" for each other was perfect!! How Adorable!!! This could be a childrens' book!
Winston, Martha’s dad got her ready for school as usual. He gave her little tusks a final wipe.
‘Who is looking especially pretty today?’, he asked, just as he did every morning.
Martha smiled shyly and whispered ‘Me, Daddy’, just as she did every morning.
At the pond school, in the midst of the activity, she quietly sat at her spot, the little tree stump that the other kids ignored.
Five minutes later, Marlie, the teacher walked in with a new student, bright eyed, and smiling.
‘We have a new student today, his name is William H. Shaw’, the teacher announced to the class. ‘You may sit anywhere you want, William’
William looked around, and slowly but surely walked up to the little tree stump and took a seat.
‘I’m William’, he said,
With her head spinning, and her pink cheeks now red as a tomato, she was glad all she blurted out was, ‘I’m Martha’
How cute everybody!
