Percy Penguin

Suggested Prompt..

Percy really needs his own story.
A children's story perhaps?

__________________________

Once upon a time there was a penguin called Percy.
Percy was one of those penguins that stood out in a crowd.
All because of his eyebrows.
Great chunks of yellow feather sticking out at all angles.
The rest of him was a neat and tidy as a penguin should be.
Dapper and smart in his black coat tails.
When he was young the other penguins used to laugh at him .
They called him names.
Like 'Browsy'.
That may not seem very bad but
any sort of name-calling is unpleasant.
Percy didn't like it.
He wished his eyebrows were sleek and small,
like those of his friends.

Later, when Percy was grown-up, eyebrows became all the rage.
They were 'Cool' or, in Penguin language, 'Freezin'
Everyone wanted eyebrows that were as fine as Percy's.
Some Penguins spent ages trying to use their flippers
to get their eyebrows to stand out like Percy's.
But their flippers wouldn't reach.
Percy could have laughed at them.
But he didn't (only inside himself).
Instead he used his flippers to help them.
Wasn't he a kind Penguin.

Percy stands on the rock. now, which way should he go? is it left or right? he's confused. but, he's sure about one thing, he's not looking back.

he needs to go his on way. nobody can stop him to fly. even he can't fly, he still wants to. if it's not with his wing, he'll find he's on way.

then, someone tapped on his shoulder. it was the little girl he met months ago, Jamie, when he was sick. she had treated him.

"are you alone?" Jamie asked him. he just nodded weakly. Jamie smiled.

"do you want to fly home with me?" Jamie asked. Percy's eyes glow when he heard the word fly. he nodded. Jamie smiled and brought him to her helicopter. the helicopter started to move and flew to the sky. Percy smiled broadly. He's flying!

Friendship With Percy

Percy wandered around his little area of the world all alone. He wanted a friend to call his own.

A boy sailed the sea with his father one day. His father searching for treasure, the boy searching to play.

Percy wandered around his little land, when suddenly what did he see? Out in the water before him, he saw a boat approaching him slowly.

The boy looked ahead of his father's boat, finding a strange little sort. His eyes focused in on this little wobbly thing and he giggled with a wee and a snort.

Percy waited and waited for the boat to finally arrive. Would he find a friend to play with him, or would this just be a lie.

The boy couldn't wait to pull in to the land, he jumped and swam through the water. He knew what this wobbly creature was, so excited; he didn't tell his father.

Little Percy wobbled and hobbled ahead, to the water with all of his might. He saw a strange something coming, with a face full of smile and delight.

The two quickly find one another that day, Percy and the little boy, Jim. Together they wandered this little land. Together, they wobble, laugh and swim.

~ Write, write, write...I could about his cute little buddy. This is all I have for my "few" minutes allowed of me today. I desperately want to sit and write but motherhood, friendship and daily duties await me.

Oh what a glorious day! Especially if you're a penquin!
The ice has finally melted and the warmth of the sun made Percy feel better, but he was still lonely.
He slips into the cool water and zips around underwater looking for a little school of fishes.
For a second he thought he saw a shiny reflection of his favorite fish, a sardine.
He turned back around, swimming along the underwater cliff looking for that shiny sight that would fill his belly.
There, he saw it again!
It wasn't a fish, but a shiny pebble. He picked it up in his beak, running his little tongue over and around the pebble. It was smooth and cold. He flipped it in the water, over and over again. He loved the way the sun streamed through the water and made this little pebble shine.
Holding the pebble in his mouth he jumped out of the water and right into the face of another little penquin! She fell backward, rolling over and scrambling to her feet. She ran away from Percy as fast as she could go.
Percy felt bad. He wanted a friend and now he had scared away the only penquin he had seen in weeks.
He let the pebble fall to the ground. It was even more shiny on the land but he just didn't feel like playing anymore.
He slipped back into the water to look for food. He swam all day and ate until he could eat no more. He was tired and sad.
Percy jumped out of the water onto the cliff and wobbled his way up the hill.
Something shiny caught his eye. There at the top of the hill was the other little penquin! She stopped then started slowly toward Percy. When she stood right in front of him, she laid the shiny pebble she had been holding in her beak at his feet. Percy smiled, picked up the pebble and gave it back to her.
She picked up his shiny gift and wobbling as fast as she could, ran down to the edge of the water with Percy close behind. She flipped the pebble into the water and they both dove in after it. They whirled through the water passing and flipping the shiny pebble back and forth.
The sun filtered through the bubbles as the two penquins played. Percy thought to himself, "Yes, what a glorious day to be a penquin!"

Percy the Penguin

It was a very cold night. Brrrr. There was ice everywhere and the winds were blowing, 'whooshaa, whoosha, whoosha’

Percy and his little brother Pixie took their places around the table made of ice.

‘Yummy, yummy, slurp slurp’, their sounds filled the air as they drank their hot soup filled with fish tails. This was a treat.

‘You make the best soup, mommy!’, Percy said licking some of the soup from the edge of his wing.

He wanted more soup, but alas, they had no more.

Percy’s dad, Poncho wasn’t able to go to work that day. He had a high fever.

Percy hugged mommy really tight and said, ‘I loved the soup mommy, but if I eat another bite, my white belly will burst open’.

They cleared the bowls away, and mommy Prada tucked her little ones to bed.

“Sweet dreams my loves, tomorrow we’re going to have the biggest squid for dinner’, mommy said.

And Percy went to bed with a smile on his face.

The End.

Percy was very sad. He was in a new place and all alone. He didn't know anyone there. He could see other penguins, but none of them had come over to say hello to him.

Percy had been knocked down by a car when he had crossed the road to get to the sea. He couldn't remember much after the scream of breaks and a big blue monster bearing down on him, but many days later he had found himself in his new home, where kind people looked after him and fed him fish every day.

'The other penguins don't want to talk to me because I'm so ugly,' Percy thought. He had lost an eye in his accident and was very self concious about it.

He stood alone flapping his wings. He heard some loud singing drawing near.

'You ain't nothin' but a hound bird, flying all the time.'

Someone bumped into Percy's blind side. He turned around. A female penguin stood blinking in front of him. She stopped singing.

'Who's dat I've bumped into?' the female penguin said.

'My name is Percy.'

The female penguin put her wing around Percy. 'The name's Penny, but they call me Elvis around here because of my lovely voice. Now, Percy, point me in the direction of the nests, will you?'

'Why, they are just there in front of you,' Percy said.

'Walk over with me, will you?' Penny asked. 'I've been as blind as a angler fish since my run in with some fishing hooks.'

Flippers hooked together, Percy and Penny tottered towards the nesting boxes. They became inseperable friends. The other penguins smiled when they heard them coming, singing their crazy songs.

'They've got one good eye and half a brain between them,' the other penguins said.
