Slanting sun, shapely shadows,
Ribs of the world, highlighted.
Slumbering hills, soothed by sunlight
Untroubled by this century’s wars.

Ancient body, gnarled and twisted,
Watching over his kingdom.
Eldritch Ent, will he awaken?
Is he needed yet?

Gold, umber, green, brown,
Autumn spreads her cloak.
Sheltering all who patiently wait
For Spring to stir them to life.

A peaceful walk
See through my eyes
Let us not talk
But delight in the skies

Stepping so slight
Feel wind's light touch
Open your sight
To embrace colors much

Rest for a moment
Breathe deeply within
Treasure time spent
May serenity begin

Allow self this freedom
With an unspoken cue
Much more will come
In this beautiful view

a still autumn morning-
muted colors
and a white golf flag

GENTLE MOUNTAINS

Gentle sways and upward sweeps
The glorious mountains call
Sending messages upon the wind
So different from Kentucky knobs

The peaceful valley awaits below
Nestled into restful comfort
Dreaming of all the wistful times
Whispering to my heart - "come away"

Crisp clean air and tall stately trees
Green, green grass both high and low
A hint of autumn in the air
Eons of memories gone by

A sleepy time from long ago
Almost as if a story
But fairy tales do come true
And mountains are alive

Her eyes are green
Luscious and sweet
I visit her often
At any time we can meet

I can sit with her peacefully
Just enjoying the silence
Or sometimes I'll whisper
My secrets warm to her sense

She loves me forever
I know this, I must
Because I love her too
Since she I can trust

For throughout all my longing
And lifetime of me
This green-eyed friend, immortal
She helps me feel free

Sitting here high on the hill
Looking down below

See the people
Watching them with an eagle eye

I sit here on my perch
Watching
Waiting

When I take off
I soar into the clear sky
Still watching
Waiting

I see my prey come out now
I dive down like a graceful swan
In my beak, the field mouse

No chance at all
I land gracefully
Pounce on the field mouse

Taking place on my perch
Enjoying my view

A wild eyed French painter
of centuries ago
would layer through paint
a mosaic to capture
the regal glory whispering
in his dreams of this spot.
