Petals the colour of freshly churned butter melt into the rich crimson as soft as a crushed velvet bedspread. Royal purple, irridescent against the buttercup yellow stamens, bursts forth from the red and orange heart of the flower. In the back ground cool baby blues and vibrant greens vie for attention among the purples, oranges, yellows and reds, all over looked by blinding white.

Martin lay on the scree, hidden by the short wind blown bushes. He looked through his binoculars at the cave. The dragon lay sleeping, its large body contorted into colourful folds. The scales on its back were rich crimson, blending to ochre and buttercup yellow on its belly. Flashes of irridescent purple coated the bony ridge that stretched across its back. Martin thought it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. The wind changed and the dragon woke. It opened its baby blue eyes and gazed towards Martin. He was transfixed. It raised its head. The inside of its mouth was deep red, soft as velvet. The flame came out of its mouth orange but it was white hot by the time it reached Martin. He never had a chance of escape.

WOW!!! I'm impressed Inkpot. So beuatiful. Very good prompt Laura Jayne.

For me this prompt is a little too challenging, but I am learning a punch of new words. Thank you for that.

Thank you for the lovely compliment Pienovski.

It is wonderful when other's creations, this photo, Inkpot's words can inspire and teach.

Just as a reminder, my prompts are never a requirement. If you find a poem or even just a sentence comes from observing and considering the offered photo I hope you will share.

Prompts are always just suggestions. If you are inspired to write in any way, any thing please do offer it here. I love your wonderful and unique voice.

She lay in the bed, looking out the window of her new room; noticing the beautiful garden just out of reach. How she longed to touch the velvet petals of the flowers; but she could not.

Warm days blew by and she became aware that her days would be short. The plans and desires of creating would come to an end for her here; where she would no longer see the flowers outside her window...and her heart drifted away.

Early morning, her husband reached out his arms to comfort her and she closed her eyes.

When her eyes opened, she saw colors that she'd seen before. Brilliant, vibrant colors of red and gold. Colors that she remembered from another place; but couldn't recall and didn't really need to. She felt a warmth of glory surrounding her and engulfing her being.

Although she thought her eyes were open she heard a peaceful voice telling her to open her eyes. As she stepped forward, a new life became her. She could feel the life in all of the colors as she realized what it meant to have sight. This sight is only born of a new life; a life beyond and she hears...."Welcome to the room that I have prepared for you, My child."

~ I saw these flowers, the colors and thought of my mom. She was gifted with The Gardener's Hands, knowing the life within each flower. It's not a gift that I have, but I admire and miss. I honor my mother today with this photo and thoughts...I have no doubt that our Father welcomed her to her new room that day, a place she longed for in the many days she lay in her Hospice Bed (well cared for).

I came by way of Lisa. You have some people commenting who have a way with words! Which of course is my weakest link. Give me a camera and I'm fine. Maybe that's why my journalism teacher handed me a camera instead of giving me something to write! :-)

i've seen it all, those wonderful days of our life.
you brought the brightest of colours i could ask for.........
down the lane of memories all i can see is your shadow.
and still the colors are vivid, though a little hazy..........
as time pass by,i may forget you
but still i would wait..........for another bright day, with u beside me.

Sheila watched him closely. Stu was showing way too much interest in the hibiscus flower. He was almost beside himself with delight as he gazed at the flower. They were on holiday in Mexico, and Stu had brought along a bit of hallucinogenics: window pane acid to be exact.

This was not the first exciting bit of nature Stu had discovered. Sheila had diverted him from the red brick bathroom where he had sat for a half an hour enthralled with the wall. What colors! What beauty!

She was trying to keep him from drawing undo attention from the Federales who strolled through the resort from time to time. Mexican jail is not where she wanted her boyfriend to end up, so she quietly pried him away from the flower. It was pretty, but... really?

They moved down by the water and sat on a low wharf that offered a view of the afternoon sun bouncing like a many faceted daytime disco light. That ought to keep him occupied she thought.

She had no idea. It was so beautiful he was moved to tears, weeping for a full fifteen minutes at the drug enhanced view he was seeing.

It would be years before scientists would discover how LSD interfered with the optic nerve, or photographers learned to mimic the effect. But for now, Sheila was watching Stu sitting on the edge of lunacy. He wasn't even seeing what was real. She took off her sun glasses to enjoy the view while she held his hapless hand.

Thanks L.J and Pienovski, glad you liked it.

Thanks L.J for making this blog, I think it is a brilliant idea and I really like it.

Thanks Lisa, I love the photo. Very inspiring. :)

I really like the other pieces. It is amazing the different ways people are inspired by the one piece of art.
