Ode to the Most Durable of Upholstery Materials"

Oh Naugahyde, sweet Naugahyde,
Thou ever art impervious
To stains and spills, so moms with kids
Indoors art no more nervious.

Four Year Old Pirate's Nickel

Drop the backpack.
Roll up those sleeves.
Move rock from rock.
Study the found coin.

Eyes dart here and there.
Brother diving down driveway.
Slipping nickel in side pocket.
Completing conquest unseen.

I opened a book beside the bed. The first noun was "screens".
Plural. Rats. There are a few. Here are some.

The Harem Screen

The harem is a world unseen
Existing behind ornate screens
Guarded by a eunuch
In a golden tunic
Who laments over what might have been.

◊◊◊

The Breast Screen

Every woman today understands
The need for regular breast scans
But if you aim at succeeding
At this mammary kneading
It's best if you have warm hands.

◊◊◊

The Security Screen

The banker in a fine pin-stripe suit
Looked elegant and of high repute
But he regularly upset the
Security detector
"It's the rings in my nipples that do it".

Nincompoop

Ten steps on the bridge to the other side
The water beneath, the tide is high

He takes eight steps, and nauseous he feels
Hard ground he must touch, soon

Walk two steps, you’ll be just fine
But nincompoop turned the other side

‘Splatt’
